Ms. Frizzle's Bus Stops at Your House: Magic School Bus Science Kit -Human Body

My daughter peels out of the room. Crash! A whole pile of Magic School Bus books fall from the case. She spreads them out on the floor, searching frantically until she finds the one about the human body . After running back and sitting in her favorite spot, she cradles the book in her lap as the theme to the Magic School Bus show starts. Her eyes shoot back and forth from the screen to the book, carefully turning pages trying to match book pictures to the TV show.
When my son was young, we had to watch Magic School Bus episodes on PBS. Then we finally got the VHS videos so we could watch at our leisure. Eventually, we had to exchange for DVDs, but we never bought them all because there were so many. (They started writing more TV shows than books.) Along came TiVo, and now my girls choose from any episode, any time.
One of our all-time favorites is about the human body. Sure, there are other kids books and movies about the human body, but they don't grab kids' attention nearly as well as MSB and Ms. Frizzle, aka- "The Friz". This animated series manages to educate and entertain better than any other kids' show I have ever seen.

The science kits are a recent addition to the Magic School Bus collection and a brilliant idea. Fits so well with the Frizz's philosophy of "learning by doing". This MSB Human Body Kit lets kids check their heart rate, make a stethoscope, measure lung capacity, explore taste buds, and make body maps and posters using tons of cool stickers. The MSB science kits won 40 of the best parenting awards- every gold star you can imagine. They were designed by Harvard scientists and educators- so the experiments work and have kid friendly explanations included. (The explanations are parent friendly too... for those of us who are not Harvard scientists.) I'm thinking these kits would make great gifts for all kids with Frizzle envy.
